Opposition  to Trashing of NB Science/Environmental Programs

There is growing opposition to the federal governments ongoing  slash and burn approach to science, conservation and environmental programs across Canada. The latest involves the closure of the library at DFO's St. Andrews Biological Station and the virtual gutting of the stations contaminants and toxicology program. The latter is particularly disconcerting given the growing evidence that the burgeoning aquaculture industry is fouling our coastal waters with sewage, toxic chemicals, diseases and parasites. A vibrant new group SOS "Save Ocean science" has sprung up in Saint Andrews and will be holding protest rallies over the next few days. Their website contains a great deal of information about the organization, the issues and  the activities planned to fight the cuts. They can be contacted at: sos.oceanscience@gmail.com.
