is a "Virtual Institute" open to individuals and groups that seek the well-being of the Bay of Fundy by:
 

  • Promoting the integrity, vitality, biodiversity and productivity of the Bay of Fundy Ecosystem, and the social well-being and economic sustainability of its coastal communities

  • Facilitating communication and co-operation among individuals and organizations interested in understanding, sustainably using and conserving the resources, habitats and ecological processes of the Bay of Fundy.

BoFEP Welcomes New Chair
Peter Wells, Chair of BoFEP for many years, tendered his resignation in early November. Peter Fenety, of St. Andrews NB, has agreed to assume the role of Chair as recommended by the Nominations Committee. Peter Fenety has long been active in BoFEP and a member of the Steering Committee for many years. He has extensive experience in consulting, business and working with a variety of organizations. His expertise and leadership skills will be useful as he guides BoFEP in the implementation of its new 5-year
Strategic Plan .
In addition, Peter  has a dynamic and dedicated Management Committee to assist him in moving forward.

New Tidal Energy Institute Launched at Acadia University
On September 1, 2011
Acadia University announced the formation of the Acadia Tidal Energy Institute. This Institute is the only research institute in North America focused solely on assessing tidal energy resources and the associated environmental challenges and socio-economic opportunities. Press release.

"Tools for Healthy Watersheds"
A series of Workshops jointly organized by BoFEP and the Ecology Action Centre for Municipal and Regional Planners from all around the Bay of Fundy. The purpose of the workshops was to increase municipal and regional planners' awareness of the many complex linkages between land-based activities within their municipalities and the health of coastal habitats and watersheds, as well as to provide information on tools for watershed protection.
